Over the coarse of the last few years we had experimented with a new material to make custom doors. The material was a cross laminated timber panel with an Okoume marine ply face. Very similar to blockboard yet significantly stronger. In the process we also have tested different door coatings and finishes in an effort to arrive at a combination which provides for long lasting durability of the timber material in fully exposed conditions. The designs below were all constructed and tested over this period. The majority being one off.
It has been this process which informs us today with the methods used in painting and finishing all external doors.
